V5 His and Hers and RFL

Currently separating and have agreed that the wife keeps the people carrier.

If I change the V5 to her name and send off to the DVLA or do online do I need to do anything re the road tax?

Will it automatically cancel and I will need to retax?

She pays it by Direct debit anyway?

Changing the keeper automatically cancels the RFL and triggers a refund for whole months remaining. So the car will need to be taxed again.

Often meaning it generates two months road tax cost in the month the rk is changed!

change it online, don't post it

Change it online on the last day of the month, get her to tax it the following day.

That way, the tax isn't doubled up.
