Don’t expect sane replies OP, everyone here drives to exactly the posted limited and wears both driving gloves along with both a box of tissues and ‘comfy hat’ on the parcel shelf 
Waze is about the best app due on its wide user base. Otherwise a Road Angel. Drive smart detectors get good reviews as well.
None of these are fail safe but could help in a momentary lapse of concentration.

Same, was off to Suffolk and it suddenly warned me of a spotted speed trap ahead - was at the bottom of a steep hill (van at the side of the road) where it needed some decent pressure on the brake to keep the car under 30 mph.One of those situations where you can easily creep over the limit, not least as this road was deserted and a country road so no buildings or people around at all.
Whilst there are some Waze users on this thread I'd like to know if there's a way to change some settings, I've tried googling but found no answers.
Is there a way to turn the zoom sensitivity down? I pinch and scroll through the map like I do on Google and it just ends up looking like a spinning globe and I'm miles from where I want to be.
Is there a way to stop it snapping back to my position when I've moved the map to look at a junction? I'll be somewhere with poor reception, move the map to somewhere to look at the traffic and before it's loaded or I've had long enough to look at it the map snaps back to where I am.
I like the idea of Waze but those two things completely stop me from using it. I don't need it for initial route planning, I want to look at the traffic flow in certain places and then leave it running incase of any updates.

You do get some genius spots like that occasionally. I don't think I've ever come across an unreported mobile trap. It's best save for me was on the A43 coming home from Silverstone. I was going "quite fast", about come over the brow of a hill and it pinged. Got the car down to an approximation of the speed limit as I went over the brow and was looking down the lens of a camera van. Brilliant.
The the person asking about the screen - I don't use the visual map at all. Set destination, leave it on the passenger seat and it just talks to me.
