I bought a new man tge 3.180 about just over 18 months ago, it has done 35k miles. At 15k miles a wheel bearing failed. Now at 35k there is a lot of knocking, dealers have diagnosed worn front ball joints. No one is there who can tell me if thats under warranty just now I need to phone tomorrow. Should I be pushing hard for warranty?
Never in a million miles of running all sorts haveI had suspension components wear out this fast surely it must be a manufacturing defect?

Are they just rebadged VW’s or is it MAN components under the shell? Does the crafter suffer the same low mileage problems? Bad batch of components that only affects a certain batch of vans. I’d imagine suspension was classed as wear and tear unless something has snapped or similar rather than just worn.

Completely vw, just rebadged.
3 year 100k mile warranty.
If they say wear and tear not warranty is that reasonable or should I fight it?
Knocking noise started at 29k but i initially thought it was my new ladder mounting bracket on the bulkhead behind the passenger seat. where the old one was by the back doors, I just assumed the ladders were rattling, but you can feel it in the steering now.

I can’t help with the initial query but if the knocking is so loud you can hear it in the cab and the steering is affected you really should stop driving it till it’s fixed.

I ignored a knocking from the suspension of my Ducato and the front wheel folded under. Fortunately at a low speed. So I’m not preaching from a high horse.

They are doing it under warranty, just had to highlight the age and mileage to the right person.
Not looking good durability wise for my second man/vw though.
First one needed 17 garage visits in 20 months then caught fire, second one had the wheel bearings go, suspension wear, dodgy door runners, rust issues and electrical failures in the first 20 months.
I wish mercedes never ditched the v6 I would have got one of them and never bothered with the competition.

Good result.

Not the sort of thing that could sensibly described as normal wear & tear so unless they could point to sort of damage or misuse then they were always going to have to fix this
