I can't see a post about this, so here you are.
A jury and eight months inside! Totally ridiculous IMHO. They don't like it up 'em the Dyfed Powys police you know.
I won't be debating this as I've wasted too many hours of my life on Pistonheads arguing the intricacies of various topics, but I think it's worth posting for information.

t that idiot must be. Bit OTT, as you say, but the whole of the Justice system gets a bit het up when you take the Mickey.
Can see the sense of it being a bit naughty having one fitted for the purpose of bamboozling the cameras, has anyone got away with the parking sensors excuse?
But the assertion that he is a habitual speeder doesn't seem to be backed up with any sort of evidence. Odd that, given they are the mighty guardians of Justice...

I think the article and police statements were padded out i
I.e the casualty reduction officers have been expertly trained to tell when an error message comes up...wow I bet that tools whole 10 minute zoom call, including introductions and questions.
I also spotted these platitudes
Ultimately the cop got it right...the tokenistic sentences handed out for the majority of vehicle or theft crimes really make this sort of crime seem a draft one to commit.
Being daft isn't against the law. But personally I'd rather share the road with a chap who has fitted jammers to marginally break the speed limit, than with a drugged up driver who is driving on a suspended licence, no insurance, and who the police know will get straight back into a car as soon as he gets out of custody with a slap on the wrist fine, and points on a licence that is already meaningless.
Maybe I should watch less police interceptors though

Would a laser just bounce off it and away from the laser gun this enabling it ineffective. Like a F117a?
As for laser jammers. The trick is to remove it for a period of tile after being pinged. Keep it on and get pinged multiple times and expect a cop to turn up at the door.

The bloke's an idiot.
If the police ignored it then no one would have minded. No one would suggest that they went for the easy targets, and let the real villians off.
However, it's not as if it would not have been obvious. What did he expect the police to do? Say he was a bit of a wag and let him choose his own speed limits?
The penalty is ridiculous. It costs a fortune and the bloke could have been punished in many other ways. The UK dependence on prison is criminal.
But the bloke's given absolutely no thought to his law-breaking. Bozo.

Exactly. It amazes me how many people go to the time and effort of fitting these devices and seemingly aren't aware of what to do after passing a camera van, or indeed the risk they're taking. The punishment does of course seem ridiculous when compared to "real" crimes, but it's common knowledge that the authorities take these things extremely seriously, and I'd have thought anyone who went past a camera van with one activated should know exactly what to do next.Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
