NIP - License out of date
Discussion
I'm just in the process of sending off my license to have 3 points added. However, just popped my license in to the envelope and noticed it expired a couple of weeks ago! I've recently moved and changing my address was on the list of things to do, but I've not got to it yet and hadn't spotted the expiration date beforehand.
I've now paid the fine online but am I likely to receive a further fine for this when I post it out or is there a tolerance? As I know we are quite keen on handing out fines I suspect the former!
Yes I know I'm an unbelievabely irresponsible individual who should be subject to at least 5 years in prison, this was an oversight before the collective sarcasm commences.

The bods that physically attach the points to your licence are going to be admin bods who are unlikely to even notice anything, unless something pings up which does not allow them to put points on with an expired photocard which is the only part that has expired, not your actual driving licence, that will be when you are 75, so I would think it won't make jot of difference. But still pay your money and get it updated asap or yes you could well get a future fine

Ah thank you for the response. In that case I will send it away and hope for the best. Sebring440 said:
Not sure what it's like in the US, but here (UK) it's your photocard that has expired and not your actual licence.
Are you sure about that? I let mine go past the date at 4b and tried to hire a van. They did an online check using my old photocard details and it came back 'no valid licence'. I also note that the wording has changed from 'photo expiry date' to 'expiry date' for 4b.
As far as I can tell I have an entitlement to drive until I am 70, but unless the photocard is valid I have no licence.
Let's see if an expert can provide a definitive answer?
