Fine for having GB on numberplate instead of UK?

Complicated - theoretically the euro symbol should not be displayed but a flag is ok. However, if you have a GB sticker as well then it’s all fine - bonkers.

Surely the UN regulation would only apply to British vehicles travelling overseas?
And then it would be up to the law enforcement agencies of the country the vehicle is in as to whether to issue a fine or not?

I would suggest that the United Nations has got bigger and better things to be getting on with than getting wrapped around the axle about what should be displayed on a UK/GB number plate. Poor journalism at best.

Total bks from Auto Trader once again. The article says that only solid black characters will be allowed and that shaded ones have been banned - that's always been the case but it's simply never enforced. Same with all the chavs riding round with no front plate and it being wedged up against the dash in the windscreen.

I'm sure it is but there are too many dodgy MoT places out there that "miss" stuff like this. It amazes me that so many people get away with obviously too heavily tinted side windows too. That's supposed to be an MoT failure. In fact, it's apparently even an offence to apply the tint knowing that the customer intends to drive the car away.

It sounds pedantic and very arsey to point these things out but I've become more and more aware of these little illegalities getting more and more common. Enforcement is virtually non-existent these days.
