I help run a small social club. Last week we had a 50th party and they seemed a nice bunch. At 11pm a regular informed me that the hand dryer was off the wall. I checked the CCTV and narrowed it down to who I think it is. Just before he went in to the toilet and regular went in. I spoke to him who advised the toilet was perfect. I've called the police who came and took the lads details and he denied it. I'm not holding out hope. What is the law on evidence. Would I of had to have CCTV of the act taking place?

Since you've got CCTV, I think that the regular did it, and he is trying to pass off the blame on the newcomer.

What about the CCTV in the toilet? That's where all the crimes take place!

From recent experience of a neighbour damaging our fence, unless you have them on camera red handed then police won't be able to act.

Contact the 'nice bunch' and tell them what happened. They'll deny all knowledge but you never know. When they tell the rest of the group / family, maybe someone will 'remember' drunkenly stumbling and grabbing the hand dryer to stop themselves from falling. Then to drunk or embarrassed to report it!

The problem you have is that the club does not seem to be inclusive to those hosting the party, so proof even more difficult

Yes I agree. Anyone can walk in off the street. It's basically like a public house. And nothing to say the dryer didn't fall off when someone slammed the door shut etc
