We have been sent rumours that SPECS cameras are being installed on the M1 in Leicestershire.

Has anybody else seen these 'yellow vultures'?

I have seen SPECS last weekend at roadworks south of Nottingham. 2 cameras either covering a lane each or just 2 of 3 lanes.

Yep. They've been there a while.

hey ho. it used to be that you could blast down the M1 from nottingham to london in the old fashioned manner ie keep an eye out for cops and you could travel as fast as was safe...now this is not the case i'll just keep to the country lanes and charge the extra fun...er I mean time to the company

Long term roadworks so it looks like they will shuffle them along as the work moves. The columns look like they have been reclaimed from somewhere.

That said I didn't see the first cameras as I travelled south the those I did see were followed by empty poles.

On return it was dark so no chance to spot anything much.

Road Angel reported them iirc.

At least the roadworks only stretch for a couple of miles rather than the disaster between J16 and J17 on the M6 (the one that's been protecting the invisible army of workers the last few times I've driven that stretch). Looks like the M1 roadworks will move once they have finished the first bit and the specs will be moved as well.

Very true. I've been along that stretch four times in the last 2 weeks and haven't seen a single workman or any working machinery that justifies the imposed 40mph speed limit for such a long stretch.
