Any divorce solicitors on here?

Evening all,

Earlyish days in divorcing my wife, could do with a bit of legal advice to know if I'm rolling over too easy or if I should fight her, have we got any legal bods on here that wouldn't mind giving some accurate advice please?

Sorry to hear things haven’t worked out between you and your wife.
I would go and seek legal advice from a local solicitor where you can fully explain everything to them about all the factors involved.
There are many variables to each divorce such as children, dependants, financials, length of time married, etc
If there is just the two of you and the split is amicable then you could possibly divide any assets/debt between yourselves without any potential animosity..
I would however get the agreement legally documented for to avoid any potential issues.

Whilst its important to seek qualified advice and also formalise any eventual agreement by way of a court order (ideally a low cost 'consent' order in which the court just rubber stamps your own mutual agreement to make it binding), be aware that any sort of 'fight' will almost certainly rapidly erode whatever you are fighting over. You obviously don't want to be completely bent over and shafted to your long term detriment but a concession at the outset may be cheaper and better for your health than a bitter protracted dispute.

Sometimes weight up the cost of giving on certain points vs the solicitors costs come into it.

Some offer a free initial consultation that will set out the normal rules of engagement - that way you can get a feel for where you should be vs whats coming through before engaging.

This. I got an hour free where i laid out everything and was told the hard truth about what could/couldn't be done based on what my ex was demanding.

The following divorce costs took me from being wealthy to borderline poverty. Divorce took 5 weeks from submitting papers to nisi being issued. Absolute took another 3 years due to financial dispute all on my ex’s side.

It all depends on your ex. Mine made it clear she wanted to financially ruin me (and herself) and she pretty much achieved it. You have to get lawyered up unfortunately.

Flippant post but: Would it have been cheaper to just up sticks and go abroad/elsewhere and not have papers served? Then bet most of your money on RED. If it comes in you have half each, if you lose your not much worse off?
