Whilst I appreciate it is good that the dealer has been punished, it's not exactly difficult to check online for the MOT. And if the issues with the car were as reported you would have to wonder if they had bought it with their eyes closed

Not their first complaint, perhaps? Either that or the purchaser was particularly lucky to have caught the attention of Trading Standards sufficiently for them to do something about it.

Like many things, it's not difficult if you know how to do it, or indeed if you know it can be done. I suspect that the majority of the population don't know that you can check Mot status on line, and would rely on the mot to give confidence in structural integrity rather than going along to a dealer armed with a screwdriver to give the underside a good poking.
