Parts availability law

I will try and keep this short,
In June 2017 i purchased a Plasma cutter, this was done under a B2B transaction. I have genuinely only used it around 10 times, the last time was over a year ago. Came to use it a few weeks ago and it did not work, it came up with a compressor error ( this model has a in built compressor), Emailed the supplier who also happens to be official appointed UK importer of this brand, to ask if they could repair it they said bring it in and we will take a look at it.
They have taken a look at it and said the compressor needs replacing, issue is the brand have been taken over and there is no spares or words to that effect, cut a long story short, its broke we cant fix it and you owe us £35.00 + vat for looking at it.
Now been thinking about it, this was not a cheap non brand eBay special, it is a European made Cemont / Sharp brand that cost around £1,200, yes it 4 years a few months old but i would have thought it would have lasted a bit longer and also be supported with spares.
Now here is the question, looking online there is a law surrounding the supply of spare parts "7 year parts availability law"
Anyone know much about this ? google throws up quite a bit about this but wondering if it maybe worth pursuing this OR shall i just chalk it up as a bad experience

This is about "right to repair" & the sooner we get some laws around that the better IMO.
Had a similar thing with an Aqualisa shower pump recently. In the end I managed to source some overpriced parts off the web from an enterprising company that is the only place you can buy them.
Aqualisa's answer was no, we don't sell parts & you need to buy a new unit @ £420 .
It's not a complicated unit , a few screws to take it apart, a couple of replacement parts and its working again for 57 quid.
