Driving licence records

Hi all

I have viewed my drivers licence details online a few moments ago and is totally clean, but when I was younger I had a good few items on there, which are not shown.

I need a form filling out for work which will be checked by the Police and one of the questions is have you ever been convicted of a driving offence, I got no problem by ticking the box saying yes as it's truthful but next to the yes box is. . . . please provide details.

I simply don't know those details, how can I get those historical records and/or can the Police see further back than I can online?

Were they actually convictions or fixed penalties? The latter is definitely not a conviction and doesn't need to be declared as the form is only asking for convictions.

The OP said 'Offences', not convictions...

The form reads like this:

Have you been convicted of any offence (including speeding but not including parking offences or fixed penalty notices)
or received a written caution?

Yes No

If yes, give details of all convictions and/or formal written police cautions, bindovers and spent convictions, including those
received outside Great Britain.

I had to fill in one of those a few years ago. I was the same, and couldn't remember much about my speeding ticket as it was quite some time ago.

I just filled it in to say 'Only offence was speeding, however this was over 15 years ago and I cannot remember the exact details, nor the exact month/year. At present I have a clean licence'.

It was completely fine and I didn't get asked about it.

All you can do is be honest, and say something like "I have previously been given points for speeding on two occasions, however this was many years ago and I cannot remember the exact details or dates. I have no way of obtaining this information from the DVLA"

Ultimately, they won't care if you've been caught speeding a few times 10 years ago or whatever. They are just making sure you aren't a wrong 'un with multiple convictions for assault and drink driving.

I had to do this for work.

just put the years in and make a note on it saying for example mine were 20 years ago so just said unsure on exact months/dates due to time lapsed and them in the eyes of the law being spent

thats what I did and I never got any come backs.

I also some how managed to get some bereavement dates mixed up and it still went through

It depends on what the job is. There are certain occupations which require you to disclose spent convictions.
