I finally found a car that ticked my boxes, A 2012 Volvo V60 estate at a OK price for sale in a smallish garage. Dad checked the car over, garage owner said he would correct a couple of things, asking if he wanted a deposit he said his internet was down so his card reader was not working and, arranged to pick the car up a week later.
Day before I was to pick car up guy emails, says deal is off, he has to spend more then he thought repairing it and if I still wanted t it be £500 more.
not going to peruse him in court but before I leave negative feed back what is the law, anyone know

t on a genuinely honest local dealer who has realised he has bought a car that needs lots of work.So the seller priced the car before he had any idea what work was needed or how much it would cost to sort out.
He then expected you to pay for his cock-up.

The car was advertised under price just to attract attention, it was never going to be sold for that price.
Either way do you really want to do business with someone like that?

Maybe, but he p me off. Waited until the day before pickup and instead of coming back saying I am really sorry, can we work something out he just demanded more money. I might have paid the money if he asked nicely.How would a negative review benefit you?

I'd get some proper advice but would imagine that the damages would be £500, assuming the seller goes on to price the car that much over what was in the contract. What I took from the other thread is the need to be very explicit about whether you've agreed the sale or not. I've had a buyer say they'd only take the car off the market for a deposit, or example, otherwise it's still for sale, so there's no confusion whether there's a contract or not. NGee said:
