Needing a legal recommendation please

Hi,

I have got myself into a problem.... I have 9 points currently, 2XSP30 (Cameras) and a SP50 88MPH on the M25 (Camera). Occurrence dates Dec 2019 and Dec 2020.

I have just been caught by a traffic officer with a speed gun. Their police car wasn't visible as they were parked in a bus lane and it was hidden by the previous car that they had stopped. I hadn't passed any 30MPH signs although I know that the speed limit is 30 MPH. I was stopped about 50 meters from a 50MPH sign in front of me. I was recorded at 39 MPH.

I have just started my own business 6 months ago, it will fail if I loose my licence - it is Motor Trade related. I also need a car to carry out my volunteering work helping those less fortunate.

It seems as if I will be banned for 6 months, and I am thinking about hiring legal representation for an upcoming court appearance.

I am in West Sussex, can anyone recommend a law firm that I should contact please??

I think of period of reflection while you make use of the UKs excellent public transport system is probably the best advice here

A refresher course on how to drive is also perhaps worth considering if it's been a while since you passed your test

Maybe use Waze and stop speeding in built up areas or obvious speed camera trap zones (M25).

Have you completed a driver awareness course within the last three years? If not you should be offered one. Doesn’t matter if you have nine points already.

Not if this offence is with the same regional police force as any of his other 3 offences.

Wrong. Doesn’t matter at all.

Only thing that matters is if you’ve done one within the last three years (unless you’ve got caught in Dorset as they don’t do the national one so it doesn’t matter).

I had understood police wouldn’t conduct a speed check within 100m of a limit change. If true then you will have been further away from the limit change than you estimate.

Those buggers, eh, hiding, catching the innocent motorist- what about your human rights?

Amazing that you didn't think that 3 speeding offences might be telling you something. That's apart from the hundreds of occasions when you weren't caught.
No wonder the rest of us despair.

If you can avoid a ban, you’re going to need some training.

Speeding is one thing, the lack of awareness and observation in getting caught so often is quite another.

12 points isn't an automatic ban if you can give a magistrate good reasons not to ban you. If you intend to plead guilty it's just a case of turning up and putting as much mitigation forward as you can, and possibly hiring or speaking to someone who knows what mitigation magistrates will consider.

Exactly. In my youth I worked for my father doing stupid amounts of miles and went from averaging 6 points at any one time to 12. Best suit, grovelling apologies, letter from my "employer" and a very expensive (company) lawyer and I kept my licence. Lesson definately learnt though.
