Bought a mower on the net brand new. It came but missing the grass box. Contacted them. No reply for a couple days. Needed a mower so went to Argos. 3 days later had a reply saying they can send a grass box out. Advised I had already sorted one. They now refuse to pick it up and said it's not faulty as they could of sent a box out.

Hi,
It was not clear if you meant they won’t collect it and want you to post it, or if they won’t accept it as a return at all.

As far as I know. (IANAL)

You have the right to return it within 14days (Distance Selling Regulations) for any reason for a refund (new, unused etc). They also have to refund the basic cost of delivery if they charged you one,

Who should pay for the return postage should be stated in the sellers terms and conditions.
If they don’t state this, then the seller has to cover the cost.

However, if the goods are faulty, then the Consumer Rights Act means that any clauses that state you have to cover the costs of the return don’t apply.

In your case, I’m not sure if the mower would be regarded as faulty. If it were me, I think I would pay to return it and get the purchase refunded and then decide if the costs of returning it are worth pursuing (which they probably won’t be).

Missing parts are the same as being faulty in my book, within 30 days you can reject.

sending the missing parts is a repair you do not have to agree to.

look up their rejection procedure and follow it.

^^^^^^^^^^ That's the sort of thing I've done in the past. If they won't give you a returns label, post it back, signed for obviously, and fight for the money (all the money, including postage).

Just tell them you don't want it, faulty or not. You don't have to give a reason if it's within 14 days.

I think the issue is that - being a lawnmower - it's gonna need a lot of stamps and a big envelope to return it, and the OP is disinclined to pay for that.

Was it 3 working days you waited, or was it over a weekend?
One is fair game, one is not (IMO of course)

If they don't pick it up though then they won't be refunding me. Maybe il just send it back for £10 odd.

If bought with a credit card raise a dispute with your provider, claim refund for faulty goods.

I've had this before and they want to see proof that the product has been returned to seller before they pay out.

Very much this, make up some fault and take it back. Not like they're going to test it in the shop

Very honourable.
