Morning,

I have recently decided to replace my car and pass my old one over to the wife.

She has insured it in her name, however the V5 is still in my name.

Is there a way of changing the name without adding to the number of keepers? - I can see there is a section for "change my name" on the V5, but unsure if this is a good way of doing it? I suppose I could always say I have changed gender!

You cannot change the name without adding a new keeper.

Why bother? The insurance company won't care as you are married to each other.

I did it years ago,
It was my brothers car and I bought it from him when we both lived at home. I just changed the first name when I sent off the log book. Came back with my name now as the new keeper but no extra keepers on the log book wink

Don't know if they'd fall for it nowadays but I thought I'd try my luck and it worked laugh

Does anyone actually really care about the number of registered keepers? Unless it is currently 1 or 2, I can't imagine anyone getting excited or the value being too affected by +/- 1 keeper either way?

+1
I've been selling cars for 15 years now. It makes absolutely no difference to a cars value how many owners its had. A vehicle is valued on condition/ mileage & history nothing else.
