New cameras on M3
Discussion
Anyone seen the new (last 6 months or so) cameras on m3 around j3/j4 one on either side within a mile or two of each other ?
Yellow thin pole, up about 20 ft high, stand alone multiple white cameras in a cluster....when travelling south east, they are a few miles after average speed section from m25 has ended..
As its painted yellow, i presume its there to raise revenue ? Speed camera ? ANPR camera ?

It's a cluster of IR lights and a camera with at least two lenses in the centre on a ~4m high pole.
Since it is yellow, I assume this is a speed camera.
Police ANPR (those that spy on people by reading their plates onto a non-public database where they stay for a year to create motion profiles!) are usually mounted on bridges and unmarked.
Police deliberately don't want to tell you where they are watching you.
I mapped those that I know onto Maps.me but don't know how to share this.
Police ANPR cams are a bit further down on the side of a brigde before the A303 exit (and some more in the two lage section and more towards Southampton).

OP if it's the pole that's painted yellow but not the cameras then they're not speed cameras but they've just used to yellow to tease usYellow thin pole, up about 20 ft high, stand alone multiple white cameras in a cluster....when travelling south east, they are a few miles after average speed section from m25 has ended..

First of all how can a camera be unmarked? There isn't a single camera that's marked up as 'Speed Camera' 'ANPR' 'Traffic Camera'. They're all unmarked.Police deliberately don't want to tell you where they are watching you.

Do you really think Police have motion profiles on everyone? Take your tin foil hat off. ANPR cameras are great at investigating serious crime. Police officers can't just look up the data when they feel like it. Most officers can only search the past 90 days and have to give crime reference numbers for each search. It's audited and heavily checked upon by supervisors.
