Report to the police via 101 or via the forces website You don't have to leave your details if you don't want to. Say about them smoking cannabis before the school run.

Even if you leave your name etc they wont say 'We've stopped you because Dave next door says you are smoking weed before dropping Chantelle off to school.'

You can do it via Crimestoppers, but I don't know how long it takes for it to filter it's way down to the police force.

Regarding stopping the smell...bit trickier. Although if they get stopped and provide a negative drug wipe (unlikely if they've just smoked it) it may make them think twice.

It's also not grassing (heh) someone up. Could save a life.

I sprayed the hose pipe on the ex neighbour when it became unbearable. When he piped up, I simply said

"I dont want to have to have the residue of your pleasure in my face. How would you like me to piss all over you when I've had a beer?".

Hes moved on now.

Report them to the police. They may lose their licence and their job. The stress will lead them to smoke in the garden more.

At least they may not run over an old lady on a trip to spar for some space invaders and Nik naks

This is really out there, but maybe speak to him?
Say it's bothering you.
Does nobody speak to their neighbours anymore?

I’d call the police.

The sort of douchebag who drives stoned is unlikely to be receptive to your thoughts.

If it bothers you that much, talk to them about it. If they're a tt, then take it further.

If not, leave them be. Or close your windows.

Does it really affect you that much? I can hear my neighbours shagging quite clearly during the summer months. Am I gonna complain, no. I'll close the window until they're done. laugh

There's far worse things going on in the world imho.

Go and camp out at the local pub and report some Drink Drivers. They're far worse then someone who smokes a bit.

The innit bruvs that sit in the garden smoking weed probably aren't up for an intelligent conversation.

My next door neighbour does it occasionally. He is a 50+ business owner who is a top bloke. It is only now and again and it doesn't bother us one bit, on this basis I decided to live and let live...
Cheers Tony

Thanks for your little pearl of wisdom but perhaps your standard of reading is similar to your standard of spelling - if you check my original post you'll see that I said I have no issue with people doing such things in their own home and I consider myself to be quite mellow as it is. This has been going on for quite a while but i've only recently realised about the driving aspect of it.
I think I am probably inclined to leave things as is. I agree with some of the other posters here that while not a very sensible thing to do, driving while stoned is not in the same league of danger as driving while drunk
And the attacking someone about their spelling, pretty much sums this whole thread up imho. biglaugh

While I don't personally have anything against cannabis or people smoking it in the comfort of their own home, a neighbour regularly smokes in his garden and particularly in the summer i'm often watching TV in my house and have the smell of it wafting in which I would rather didn't happen.
But in addition to smoking it he often drives. I've seen him have one early the morning and drive to work and also have one in the afternoon then go and collect his kids.
I am not one for grassing people up and if I did would be a bit concerned to be identified but I am starting to consider it.
What would you do in this situation? And if I do decide to inform what is the best way to do it discretely?

So you now call our replies "nonsense" because we don't agree with you snitching on your neighbour?

Couldn't make it up. Maybe have a word with yourself? biggrin

This thread of some people defending drug drivers is one for the why have driving standards dropped thread. Unreal.

please delete this - i really do not want this thread to continue now and I thought deleting the original post had made this clear. Why try to restart it?
What did you expect? You ask a question and got mainly sensible answers with a few humourous ones thrown in.

All good, then you decided to be insulting and nit picking about some spelling typo.

People like you really drag this forum down. Whatever I decide to do (and it's probably going to be to not intervene) defending drug-driving isn't a great look son.
Yeah, I god don't I. laugh

I'm not defending it.

You however, only think you should report the guy to get some sort retribution because you don't like smelling his weed.

Don't call me son. You'll probably get further in life if you didn't resort to personal attacks on people when you don't like their responses posted your "views" on an open forum.

Isn't the first reply very balanced and reasonable, the very thing you're claiming isn't here?

On topic, I wouldn't be too bothered, but driving afterwards would make lower my opinion of the neighbour a fair bit.

Eh? Nobody is defending drug-driving, you asked 'What would you do?' and posters answered your question.
Just because their actions wouldn't be the same as yours, doesn't 'drag the forum down'. There are always different viewpoints on any subject on any forum.

I see you had to get one more insult in by putting 'son' at the end of your post.

i suppose I expected what I got. This is pistonheads after all - the male version of mumsnet.
But I hoped for sensible and considered replies. My mistake

You really are a frail little thing if you think that's an insult son
As far as I'm aware you are not my son, so if you weren't intending to be insulting, why did you put it there?

It's rather ironic that you are accusing other people of dragging the forum down, while most of your posts are so rude, it's people like you that drag the forum down.
