Parking ticket in Sweden in hire car

Just got given a parking ticket in Sweden for 900 sek (c.75 quid). Feel a bit aggrieved as loads of other cars parking in sane place (with no tickets) and no obvious signs / markings

Am in a hire car. Should I just ignore and let the hire car company sort it?

One (possible) complicating factor is the hire car was hired in Denmark. I presume there are no restrictions on driving it from Denmark to Sweden. But if there are, then clearly may make more sense for me to sort the ticket..

No restrictions driving between the two countries.

But if you've been legitimacy had as it sounds, surely just pay it? For £75 I would, since I'd like to return without having a possible mark against my name.

Generally the parking areas are marked as well as they are here.

Presumably the risk is that the hire car company charges an admin fee to tell the traffic warden who you are?

If you ignored it wouldn't the hire company just pay it and charge your credit card, plus any admin fees?

It may be they (as in Denmark) have these little paper clocks in the windscreen - these are supposed to be set to the time you left the car. If they are not set correctly, or if you set it correctly say to 4pm but the warden walks by at 5:02 and the time allowed is one hour, you will be done.

Not sure if the Swedes use this system but a decent chance they do.

If I were you I'd just pay the fine and have done with; we love our extra charges here in Denmark and you can bet that the rental company will flay you for it if you leave payment to them. At the time of writing AVIS, for example, will charge you 375 DKK on top of the fine itself, and that's based on a fine issued in Denmark. I can't imagine this being any cheaper for a fine that our Swedish friends have issued

Edit: It seems that 375 DKK is the standard charge for all companies, and most seem to recommend that the customer sorts the fine out themselves. Hope this helps.

The "P-clock" is still used in some suburban areas both in Sweden and here in Denmark, but most larger towns and cities in both countries have gone over to using parking apps such as Easypark and Parkman. These apps simply require the user to register the car's number plate and a credit card number. There are normally clear parking rules on signs about the place so it's a good idea to have a look around if in doubt.

Did you not ask at point of hire? What does your hire agreement say about taking the vehicle out of Denmark?

Genuine answer: no.. i assume that with a reputable hire car company within EU there should be no issues.. however per the above I thought I should check, so appreciate all the responses confirming my initial view

Genuine question to you: do you actually read all the docs? Most of it is legal boilerplate (similar to apple’s 20 page document when upgrading iOS).
