Does anyone know how long it takes for an MOT pass (or fail) to appear on the government's 'check your MOT' website page?

I believe (or though may be wrong) that the garage is connected to the internet while the test is being carried out. So I would have thought that the Govs website data would be updated instantly - or maybe not??

Can be a few hours, but usually by the evening of the MOT.

Mine have usually been on there as they do it, certainly before I get the phone call.

Couple of MOTs ago I saw them driving mine out of the bay, checked and it was on there as a pass.

Bike was done a couple of weeks ago and I knew it was going to fail but got the phone call and it still wasn't on the website for a few hours.

Mine (just last week) took a few hours to show, a little longer on the 'MOT and TAX check' (but to be fair on this site it says allow 5 working days, took 1).

However, I could tax the car online when home about 10 minutes after the test so it does seem it all goes through immediately, just takes a little time to go on the public sites. So as far as ANPR checks or police stops, I'd say it is all immediate.

Same, my dad took his car for an MoT and I was wondering what the outcome would be. I looked on the website at about the time that it was due to be completed and saw that it had passed. I called my dad to tell him the good news and he was surprised as he was standing next to the car at the garage and hadn't yet heard from the tester. I think that I'd logged on to the website just at the time the tester was printing out the pass certificate to give to my dad.

The short version is that in my experience it's been immediate.

Thanks all for your replies.
It looks like the car in question doesn't have an MOT then.

My VehicleSmart app normally pings the pass or fail as soon as its done, while i am waiting or watching the mot being done.

Try MOT History https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history
rather than the check, it seems to appear much quicker there

On line pretty immediately at our local place. I knew my son's car had passed before he arrived home

When we log off a test we save the result. This goes on the system immediately. In the early days of MOT computerisation there could be a delay but that hasn’t been an issue for a long time.
Edit. I’ve just logged off a test and I checked straight away. The result was on the system.
