Look out for burly looking blokes doing 65 mph in powerful saloon cars. You can usually spot the camera under the rear view mirror and they often have an extra antenna or two attached to them. Having a list of cars that the BiB might drive will ensure that you never break the speed limit anyway

To be honest you'll only get stopped if you're driving like a cock. Cruise past a BiB at 80mph and you won't get pulled. Fly past at 95mph while undertaking slower traffic will see your licence decorated.

Unlike cameras, BiB are there to keep people safe on the roads, if you drive safely for the conditions you'll be fine.

I was making progress up the M40 the other week when I noticed a Silver Omega using very good lane discipline but gently catching up with me...

My "spidey senses" were tingling so the cruise came off and I slotted into lane two..

Sure enough, the Omega catches up and my suspicions were correct, Two rear view mirrors, some extra aerials, no dealer badges and two blokes in big waistcoats and white shirts come rolling by... Lights in the rear headrests as well..

Cruising towards the Oxford turn off they signal off the motorway, we'd had a busy time already so fancied smoe KFC, so we follow them up the slip.. They get to the island, and go straight on to rejoin the motorway..

Did I have a lucky escape? Were they expecting me to go back up to speed so they could nab me?

I dunno...

i was driving my bosses old car a few weeks ago (volvo V70 T5) about 10:30 at night, looked in my mirror and saw a audi tt coming blasting up behind me and then slaming his foot on the break as he pulled in behind me, so i took the cut off and rejoined the motorway and surenough when i came back onto it he was long gone so i put my foot down again and as soon as he saw me again he pulled into the hardshoulder and pretended to close his fuel cap which was never open in the first place

and that was the last i saw of him, i am sure he thought i was the police

big powerful volvo (better slow down)

anyway he doesent have the car anymore

if you see a 05 Black BMW 545 touring coming up behind you don't bother slowing down unless it says POLICE along the bonnet

we used to have a an 850R many moons ago, had some right laughs in it. First time i was in it (me and my dad, two large guys in the front seats) we decided to have a little fun with a biker to see what it could do. He blasted away from us until he realised we were in hot pursuit then pulled into the side of the road and waved us past. You really could fly down the motorway in that thing, everyone just slowed down and pulled into the middle lane

Sussex police are using all sorts of cars including Skodas. At least it looks like they haven't jointed the scamera partnerships.

That certainly made interesting reading. Although a long time ago now, a traffic cop near Bury Hill told me that a well ridden bike on those roads would easily get away from a traffic car marked or unmarked.

In the Surrey area there seem to be some dark Saabs in use which are very subtle indeed.

Remember, Just because you're in a powerful car doesn't mean you have the right to drive like a wildcat with a firecracker up it's arse.

Apologies if I've made an assumption here, but your post indicates to me that you WILL be driving at some speed. If so, I wouldn't be worried about fines or points as they're a given, rather what BiB'll do when they discover it's not your car they've pulled you over in (IF they pull you over that is). What would your boss do if you got nicked speeding in his car and the BiB notified him? Because they will notify the car's registered owner.

Unmarked cars can be anywhere at anytime, and they could be driving anything. I understand the Thames Valley Police have an unmarked motorcycle patrolling the M4 from time to time. That's the idea....you never know what they'll be driving/riding or where they'll be.

Not trying to spoil your fun in a 545i Sport Touring (wouldn't mind a go myself ), but just trying to make you aware of the reality of things....and to be alert!

White Vectra's - especially V6's. Theres one on the A55 regular from Bangor to Chester. And he taunts the other drivers into going faster.

A lot of them do that, you're not suggesting you didn't realise that are you ?

We dont have to do that. Theres enough writing out there from people who cant drive and have total disregard for theirs or more importantly, others safety.
