That, really.

What do people do about recalls for cars that are off the road for an extended period?

You can only drive on the road with no mot and no tax to a prebooked mot station for a test.

And also only if it is insured.

Why you bothered about a recall when you are not using the car?
Just get it booked in for the work when you put it back on the road.

What, and leave it there forever?

Would a failed MOT really hurt a Sorn'ed car ?
Just drive it back for repairs .

Would the recall actually do anything to improve the car as it is?

I really cannot believe that you've asked this question.

Can I drive my car (that is not MOTed or taxed) on a public road?

But not from a cancelled MoT test, surely?!

Yes, you can drive it to an MOT test. I know that. What I was wondering was if there are other exemptions. And then it made me think about people who lay up cars for an extended period, and the fact that recalls can be for things that go on fire or blow up so you might not want to wait a year or two or more.

Thanks for all the more constructive answers, I think book it for an MOT at the same time is the winner.

Isn't that only if it has failed a MOT?

I'm pretty sure a MOT needs to be in the chain or people could be driving with no MOT or tax to any garage all the time.

Let it fail then, hehe

but I'll bet the legislation doesn't refer as to whether the MOT actually took place. I was a little tongue in cheek

As long as its insured don't worry about it. The chances of being pulled are small to zero..

How can it be legally insured without a valid MOT and road tax?
