Help with garage providing proof of service
Discussion
Hi all,
In need of some advice. I bought a 2013 GT86 in April of 2021 from a listers dealership and was given a service before I collected this. However I have phoned them up today as I could find proof to see if they can email/provide a service invoice. They have then told me and confirmed the service was done however cannot send an invoice or any documents as they have private information belonging to the dealer on. I asked if they could remove the private information however they said they could not, and could only write an email say it had been done, but that doesn’t seem like proof to me. They said a service manger is going to get back to me but I have no idea what my options are in terms of how to get hold of this and if there is anything I can do about this.
Any advise would be greatly helpful
Thanks!

An email stating the date, mileage and work completed would be fine for me, along with a stamp in the service book to tally up with it. Your average motorist aren't going to give a toss about the actual invoice, as long as it's tangible evidence that they can see. A stamp in a book is enough for most.

send them a service book and ask them to stamp it
^This.
Just get the service book stamped, it's all you need.
They won't provide you with a service invoice as such as it was done in house and part of the deal.
They'll just 'lose' the parts for a sales service ie oil and filter in sales expenses..
Tbf, this is pretty normal, I’ve had cars before that haven’t had the service book stamped, but as dealers are not allowed to send out copies of invoices that are not in your name, I’ve just got an email confirming the date and mileage of its service, then when selling, I just tell the buyer to call the dealer to confirm if they have any concerns.
The dealer will be happy to stamp the book though, but I would add, after half my Royal Mail parcels being lost recently, I’d recommend taking it in person.

U fortunately with my car I didn’t receive a service book. Just a load of invoices for all the history. Annoying this is the only service the car is missing
I put loads more trust in service invoices rather than simply a stamped service book, seen loads of them obviously forged.Get a replacement service book and visit the servicing garages for a stamp if you want a complete book.
A nice excuse for a long drive in the car.
I doubt listers will give you copy of an internal invoice, but I'm sure they'll stamp your service book.
Enjoy the 86
I bought an approved used car that had the first service overdue by 2000 miles, apparently it was ex manufacturer fleet and they didn’t issue out the books. Anyway, the selling dealer done a proper service and stamped it as second service.
A few weeks later they obtained a letter from the UK importer stating the date and miles of the first service and that the full warranty was applicable, (I had it in writing already that the warranty was unaffected) I just stapled this into the service book and thought no more about it.
Our Range Rover had a service plan and when I came to sell, it had three missing services in the digital record that I had the invoices for, took several calls to get the dealer to update the digital one correctly, henceforth I think my letter seems more reliable than any digital history.
