Just recieved a letter asking who was driving for the above offence, I did see them at the road side and slowed a bit but was sure I was only doing about 65mph. First offence what can i expect for this?

An offer of 3 points & £100, or an invite to attend a Speed Awareness Course.

Unless in Scotland, where speed awareness courses are not offered - AIU.

Slowing when you see them is too late, if you can see then then they have already recorded your speed.

That's hardly the spirit. You're supposed to say they unfairly caught you, and ask if there are any ways you can get out of it wink

Not always true.
I was doing a fair lick on the motorway, saw camera van on bridge over motorway as I rounded a bend. Hit the brakes very hard, got pinged for 81mph and offered a speed awareness course.

So you were too late when you saw them.

Exactly same speed I was caught at earlier this year in Leicestershire.

NIP sent back, few weeks later letter offering me Speed Awareness, Points & Fine or Court.

Fair cop, took the Speed Awareness and did the course about 10 weeks later.

I’m guessing they were doing more than 81 before they hit the brakes hard.

They were probably aiming the camera at someone else when they spotted him.

I read that as him going a lot faster before hitting the brakes. Perhaps in ban territory??

69 in a 60 is even an offence! Jesus Christ.

61 in a 60 is illegal.

Yes, it might not be intentional or a momentary lapse of attention, but it deserves prosecution all the same.

If we accept this, where will it end?

61 isn't likely to end in prosecution.

It's been pretty much standard to be prosecuted for exceeding the limit for over a century so it's unlikely to shake the tree suddenly now.

Yes, dug out the calculator and turns out it's 9mph over the limit.

Yeah, what happened to scamera, should be out catching real criminals, etc. This place is going to the dogs.
