Mrs Es car was broken into last night. Smashed a window, slashed a tyre (new Eagle F1) and then didn't take anything.

Police called, they took a statement but declined to take any prints or other evidence from the scene of the crime.

Chances, therefore, of anyone ever being punished for the criminal damage are not high I assume.

Did you ask why they won't take such basic measures to investigate the crime? I'd be a bit annoyed tbh, they're obliged to investigate.

Oh they'll investigate it. Right after they solve all the murders. If nothing was taken surly it's classed as vandalism rather than theft. And thats wayyy down the list of priorities. It's not like they can recover any stolen goods...

edit: When mine was vandalised all I got was a nice letter after 6 months saying sorry they didn't catch anybody.

Nail. Head. Contact.

We know they're never going to catch anyone. They know they're never going to catch anyone. Going through the motions for the insurance people.

Well if they just checked it for fingerprints inside and out, they'd surely have an idea who it was? Its not like they could prove it perhaps, but at least they'd know that particular scrote was up to his tricks?

Met with same response, its just not worth their time.

The bit that really gets me is being told to go out and try and find the vehicle thats been stolen as if they find it first they will put it in a pound and charge £112 for the recovery + £X for each day they have it!!!!!!

Well here is a quote I got from a policeman when my dad's mx got broken into:

"If you don't want your car broken into, don't own a nice car"

And then this week when the lupo got done over and I got assaulted it was made pretty clear they weren't interested. Soco came but didn't find anything and that was about it.

My experience agrees with this poster.

The one time a car I owned did get broken into, and there were clearly dusty white fingerprints on black plastic in the dashboard on the door handles, local Plod refused to take the fingerprints.

I wasn't impressed.

Think it depend on officer - some do and some don't. After break in once at ours - we insisted on prints in case...but thought they found a thumb print - they could not trace this scumbag.

But also - even if they catch a vandal or burglar .. ist sob story und so was at the courts

Ist another in "Express" paper und was reported originally in "Liverpool Echo" und "Southport Visiter" Court refused to ban a compulsive ar-ars arsonist from c-carring a lighter as it would infringe her human right to smoke

What has story to do mit vandalising poor Mr E's car - you might be ing...

newspaper report said:

Ms Dalziel (23) has a habit of setting cars alight at random. She admitted two charges.

und not one word of whether or not she checks for persons und pets in car before setting fire to them ...:ranting;

Police very sensibly demanded ASBO to ban her from carrying flammable substances und a lighter. Ormskirk Magistrates heard that the woman had been found at 4 am in the act of pouring paint stripper over two cars. She said she was drunk at the time and could not remember doing this How convenient!

prosecution explained that ASBO was drawing line you should not cross else it gets you banged up for 5 years. (OK - so we know ASBOs are iffy but they gave a pensioner an ASBO for getting to end of tether with a percussionist BiB - she snatched his drumsticks away, spent night in cells und got ASBO awarded! )

But back to story:
Prosecution argued that was not just defendant's human rights which needed consideration but human rights of public who need protecting from such people

why Mr E's case should be investigated properly - ist a human right

Defence claimed she was an unsolvable problem

why not locked up then und given psychiatric help

he also said she smoked cigarettes und thus needed a lighter und matches...

So .. she ist tagged und given 7 pm curfew und they also ordered a drug rehab course (Put new slant on those fags then .. )

Because she plead guilty - no jail term

Police are disgusted ....

Ist thread hi-jack - but relevant in way as ist to do mit vandalism to car und problems police appear to have even if they catch the bd ...

Re contact the Police Mr E.
There will be a soco at a local station that will examine cars for evidence.
Normally at certain times during the week.
Email me if you need any info or force numbers.

Yes they will. They should have been done. I know as I have arranged for hundreds to be taken.

Dreamland....although I admit it should read 'hardly ever'. Also the rubbish about contact the local police, to use SOCO, you've got to be joking. Maybe in your area, but nowhere I've ever lived.

Strangely enough, I dont blame the rozzers. Some little drugged up brain dead benefit scrounging TW*T breaks into the car, how the hell they gonna catch 'em. Yes, I know they can check the national database, but that ain't gonna happen for a car break in.

The best thing is to change the law. Give me the right to wait for them..with a baseball bat...trust me, no more break-ins. Ain't gonna happen though, which is why we get frustrated with the BiB.

Not dreamland at all.
Maybe not in your area, but it happens for every vehicle on my patch. Not arguing with you over it, but you are wrong to state that it will never happen. I am especially not in dreamland as I deal with it daily.

Plus, if there are prints left, then yes, the database is checked for every hit.

Best you have a word with your nick.

Mike

Problem in my patch is that there are a gang of pros targeting cars with good stereos. These guys wear gloves and they dont leave prints. This has been happening for maybe 18 months. Nothing has happened from the police. Its very worrying as I have personally been targetted twice. It's happened to several of my friends in my areas too. No other car in my area, or should I say my immediate neighbourhood (or in their case their neighbourhood) was touched the night my car or their car was.

I'm just waiting for the door to get kicked in for keys to the others.

Absolutely understand your situation Kenny, in that case reactive attendence is useless. And unless the local police can do some more proactive patrols then there simply wouldn't be any evidence.
