Noticed over the past week that these signs have been erected at either end of a road, I've seen cars being banned whilst bikes are allowed but never this way round before.

There's a bike under tarp parked in the road so what do the owner do now, push their bike to the end of the road?

Edit: Streetview link should now work.

Looks like there's possibly alleyways/ pedestrian walkways there?

If so, that's what the no motorcycles are for, not the road

(the streetview link wouldn't work for me so I couldn't check)

Can't see any no motorcycles signs on the street view link, but in your first picture the sign is at right angle to the road so definitely looks like it refers to a walkway/alleyway which is coming off the road at that point, not to the road itself. The second picture is less clear but could be showing something similar.

Presumably a no cars sign is not needed as the alleyway is too narrow for cars anyway.

Somebody at the council has messed up. Those signs should go either side of the bollards at the end of the road to tell motorcycles they cannot go through even though they can fit. They should not be at the end of the road like that.

Having said that some councils have used them on normal roads ie not where there is a bollard problem. So it is possible.

I've seen the sign used before, but where a car wouldn't physically fit (laughs in Peel P50).

But I've also seen the opposite approach taken, where the prohibition is probably because the cars wouldn't fit!

There's a section of road in the Park Royal estate in West London which is signposted as no motorcycles...

Not the same signage but of the same theme: the "footbridge only" sign at this ford is due to a friend of my FIL deciding to see if his car would fit. It didn't, and had to be dragged back out the way it went in.

I do think being the reason for a warning sign is something to be slightly proud of!
