How screwed would the driver be?
Not looking for the holier than thou brigade, the driver is very aware & disappointed in themselves, a genuine mistake in temp. speed restrictions.
Guess it’s a court date?
Assuming less than nine points already, you’ll get an offer of £100 and three points by a fixed penalty. Not looking for the holier than thou brigade, the driver is very aware & disappointed in themselves, a genuine mistake in temp. speed restrictions.

More than nine points and it’s off to court.

Agtlaw will be along shortly, hopefully. Not looking for the holier than thou brigade, the driver is very aware & disappointed in themselves, a genuine mistake in temp. speed restrictions.

Has the driver been sent any documentation such as a Section 172 notice (identify driver please) / NIP yet?
It matters if the car is not driven by the registered keeper on the V5 in terms of timeline.

Ignore nonsense on the internet about fines based on income.

I got caught at the same speed at the end of lockdown.
£100 & 3 points, no offer of a SAC
I think the limit for speed awareness course in a 30 limit would be around 42mph per NPCC, but that's just from reading potential b£100 & 3 points, no offer of a SAC
ks on the interweb.I have previously attended a SAC but beyond the 3 year time limit.

Given my infraction was the first points I’ve received, I’ve often wondered if I receive a FPN which does comply with the offer of a SAC, would I qualify for one?

Yep as long as you are under the threshold (10%+9 I think) and haven’t done one in three years previously you can do another. Doesn’t matter if you have zero points or 11. I have previously attended a SAC but beyond the 3 year time limit.
Might make a difference if you have 12 and been allowed to keep your licence.

I think fines for some motoring offences are based on income though? I recently read that Joelinton (Newcastle United Player) was done for drink driving and fined £29,000 - a weeks income presumably.Ignore nonsense on the internet about fines based on income.

A fixed penalty isn't available for drink driving and that's a fine imposed by a magistrates' court. A fixed penalty is fixed. The clue is in the name.
