Just got in from a call-out. Came in to Kent on the M25 QE2 bridge (Dark). There was a guy in a yellow jacket with a laser gun on a tri-pod on the bridge that crosses after the tolls pointing it towards the bridge. Wanker
Frst time I've got over that bridge doing more than 35mph all month.
I noticed camera signs go up a while back but there arent any fixed cameras. How the hell can they get you with that gun, there's no way a camera could get your front plate with head lights on at that range - or are they using it and logging you as you go through tje tolls?

There was discussion in motoring forums a short tinme ago - maybe here - about police forces trialling a speed detection device that will work at night, maybe this was / is part of the trial?

The question you want to be asking is not how the technology works, but how the officer can form a prior opinion that you are speeding before checking your speed with his bit of technology.

Very hard to judge speed of approaching headlights at night.

Bloody hell - isn't it amazing how much effort they put into speed detection??

The gun was on a tripod and at that range I guess it would have to be. I guess it could only have been set up for one lane as well (again due to the distance it was placed from the bridge). I guess only time will tell. I did follow a bike over the bridge so the cntr of my car would have been obstructed any way. Damm, if only I was in the vette - no plate there!!!

It's possible it wasn't a speed trap. I thought I'd been done by a mobile camera a few weeks ago on the A13 quite near the Dartford bridge but it turned out to be some kind of traffic monitoring. There has been quite a lot of monitoring in that area over the last couple of months.
