Quick question for the piston heads collective.

Can a company outright refuse any sort of refund For purchased goods if they are trading in the UK? Does the fact that the company is not UK registered exempt them from the 14 day cooling off period?

What info? It’s an off the shelf product that couldn’t be viewed until purchase.

Well, how long ago was the purchase? Was it mail order? Is it faulty/not fit for purpose? How hard would a direct replacement be (eg a toaster)? What has the business said? Why are they refusing a refund?

There are probably more.

Less than 14 days (sorry thought that was clear from the first post).
Online purchase
Not suitable (wrong fit).
Direct replacement not possible.
We do not offer refunds on the grounds that:

We only make a certain quantity.

We do not want people ordering multiple and then returning what they don’t want.

Refunds are not cost or time efficient for them.

I would have thought so. Especially if it was purchased from a UK address. Bit different if it came from Belgium for example.

Where are they based?
how did you buy? as in direct or via ebay or aliexpress or whatever
how did you pay?

easiest option would be to go to your bank and ask for a chargeback.

The company can absolutely refuse the return.

Of course your remedy to this would be to sue them.

When you say “off the shelf” are you certain that the items you ordered are 100% off the shelf….. or did they have to be tailored/made in any way specifically for your order?

It would be a whole lot more straightforward if you just said what it was, where it was bought from and gave all the info

They can refuse a refund in certain circumstances.

For example, my wife bought an item of clothing online that didn’t fit. The company refused a return on the basis that it was ‘made to order’. This was specified up front and therefore legitimised their actions…

It's a 12" black rubber cock and they sent you a cheque back from Arse Tickler's Faggot Fan Club, saying sorry, we couldn't get the supply...and you don't want to cash it in because you don't want your bank manager to know he tickles arses when he is not paying in cheques hehe

When someone asks for help but drip feeds the information you know for sure you are not getting the full story.

So are you saying that you ordered the wrong thing?
Is it what it purported to be?

Give us the full story...

You can only return up to 11" as any more is getting off on the wrong foot.

Completely illegal.

Only way it could possibly be legal is if the item was custom-made (which sounds like it wasn't).

Always use Paypal up to £100 and credit card over £100.
