Hi all,

I’ve just seen this, curious as to how they’d of gone about getting an injunction at that time of night?

They received it at 12:47am. Doesn't mean it was signed/written then.

I read it as if the tree felling was started late at night and then the injunction was applied for.

There's a duty judge of the High Court available for out-of-hours injunctions. I suspect it's mostly media related injunctions.

E.g. https://www.capsticks.com/insights/out-of-hours-ap...

this and clarkson farm has shown some local authorities, (Khan Ulez expansion) are what that mouth piece tax dodging twit Lineker would call 1930s Germany!

They seem to think they know best and carry on against the will of the people who elect them and its not confined to Labour or Tory LA.

Who elected the Chief Executive?

Councillor come and go, but the grand schemes don't change.

They are held by the councillors thats how its suppose to work>

Article states....

But last night, councillor Richard Bingley signed off a decision notice for the work to go ahead..

Richard is the conservative leader of plymouth council, therefore he issued the order not the CE and he is elected.

I'm not familiar with this particular scheme, but very often these grand plans for towns and cities are promoted by planners, city engineers, consultants and so on, an by the time it comes to councillors signing it off, it's almost a fait accompli. The alternatives have been binned ages ago.

We see at national level, elected people come and go and change jobs so frequently, it's not always them driving the long term projects.

Would the outcome have been any different if Bingley hadn't won his seat?

I suggest you keep your comments to subjects you know something about.

The Lineker tax case is not a result oh him 'dodging' tax, but is more likely the BBC at fault under IR35 rules.

And that can't involve trees?

I am currently involved with some government project in plymouth so this interesting as we missed out on some levelling up monies.

It can't involve the current mature trees, they want to re-purpose that space but they have pledged to plant 170Nr semi mature trees nearby to replace. The issue is should there have been more community engagement on the current trees, seems mad!

Should a full consultation have been held on keeping the trees, seems like sadist khan just says yeh I know better get on with it!

Lineker is in a 4.9m tax dispute https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/feb/27/g...

As he is not a tory he isn't being lynched by the MSM, but HMRC position seems to be he is BBC employee whereas Mr Lefty believes his tax affairs are a complicated partnership and he is too important to bbc football to pay income tax. Its a similar IR35 type scenario.

Sheffield council tried to do the same thing with around 17500 trees. Apparently they contracted out the maintenance of the trees and pavements to AMEY at £2.2Bn who then proceeded to start felling them all to save doing any ongoing work. Again done in the dead of night. Luckily the locals protested and took direct action and got it stopped.

Very good! Make a reference to the rise of fascism but attribute it to someone else!

They are a nightmare in 2019 I was involved with Highways England, I had a scheme to deal with some dangerous trees at a place in devon at RAWRIDGE.

We had to jump through about a year of hoops to fell the ones at risk of falling into the A road. Surveys, consultations boxes and these are trees many unstable roots and or were rotten and about to fall onto a road, which us already has very little protection or VRS.

We did it on night works with 3 Ecologists and Bird Expert on Nesting cost a fortune. Its very difficult to fell mature trees but I guess none of the PCC have TPOs.

Oh yes, he is a bigger crook that former chancellor (Potentially and HMRC are considering), however its allegation at this stage, the current investigation is around whether what he has done to avoid taxes is legal is on going. only 5m!
