My Googling skills are failing me. Can anyone link/post the image that AGTLaw has about speed thresholds.

Thanks, that seems to be the fines for court etc. The image I'm looking for shows the thresholds for courses, FPN and court etc.

So when is the awareness course 'appropriate'?

If you fall within the criteria for a course.
eg you haven't already had one in the previous three years.

And the offence isn’t in Scotland.

Also a lower speed.

ie over 85 on a motorway and it's a fine and points until you hit 95, then it's court.

Not sure of your point about 85, it attracts the same punishment as 79 in Scotland, just the same as in England, just remove the course option from the equation

Course usually offered if not previously attended within 3 years, and speeding within tolerance of the referring police force, typically up to 10% +9mph above the speed limit.

I was speaking to a postman last week who was offered a Speed Awareness Course for 33mph in a 30 limit.

Seems Devon and Cornwall have their own threshold!
