Hello to all, hoping for some advice.

Someone stole my plates about a week ago.

Today I've come home to 5x different PCNs for parking.

Through your experience what are the chances of the local authority's cancelling these PCNs based on my number plates being stolen.

I don't have a camera pointing at my drive way to prove where my car was and isn't it innocent until proven guilty?

Shouldn't they prove that my plates HAVENT been stolen rather than me having to waste loads of time and be inconvenienced by this when it wasn't me. I have been given a crime reference number by the police but they don't seem to car either.

Any help would be so much appreciated, many thanks x

Have you by any chance reported the theft to the police.

If not why not

Do it now

Appeal to whoever is sending out pcn with crime number quoted

So have your physical plates been removed from your car, or has someone made another set & put them on their car?

Hopefully the car in the PCN is different to yours, which will make any challenge easier.

All you can do is get in touch with them all & fight your corner, should be easy enough.

Urssoack, did u not even read ???

I have been given a crime reference number - I have reported it to the police and they don't seem to bothered. They gave me the CRN and done with.

E-bmw thanks for replying, do you think I stand a chance simply appealing the PCNs based on the crime reference number for my plates being stolen.

Yes they were ripped off my car a week ago and now all this drama. I've never been in this situation before but It seems the innocent have to prove innocence in this situation rather than the local council proving that my plates havent been stolen.

Just don't fancy wasting time if kind people on here have already "wasted time and proven unsuccessful" then they have taken on for the team.

Us people vs authorities throwing power around just because they can

It's simple, just tell the council or enforcing agent exactly what you've just posted here, quoting the reference number. If there's also an option to send photo's in, then send a copy of the email/ letter with the CRN on it.

I've had this (mine were cloned rather than stolen) and must have had 20+ PCN's. All successfully appealed, is it a pain in the arse, yes, but not that difficult to do.

I actually had a number plate on retention, so I ended up putting that on the vehicle and never heard anything again. I since sold it on with the original plate back on it to a work colleague, they haven't heard anything, so the offending vehicle either got picked up by the police, or they moved on to another cloned plate.

Sorry but I am having a chuckle, in the tabloids today, pub has a number of dolls displayed in the pub including some cuddly toys we used to call “Golly Wogs”, someone reported it to the police and SIX turned up at the pub in what they called a “Hate Crime”, and confiscated the dolls.

Hope you get your problems sorted out soon.

8 years ago thread, boring.... BTW nothing ever came back so fu the police. They should solve proper crimes instead of trying to grab money off of everyone all the time !!

Not actually helping anyone so why not just not post here ?

As for everyone else - thank you so much for taking the time in replying. I really appreciate it.

Still undecided what to do I but will sleep on it.

What choices are you contemplating?
Either ignore or tell them?

If this happened to me, I would send an email to the issuer of the PCN's with the Police case no. for the theft and a photo of my V5C showing that the car I own is different to that which the PCN issuers will have evidence of.

I would ask them to review their evidence and politely tell them to go to Court if they wish to take the matter further with me. smile

Perhaps they had a bell end detector and chose you on the basis of that?

Worth exploring?

Thanks pastalnata, thanks for replying with useful information.

Seems like posts from a decade ago seem to have relevance here? Almost like when Ben shapiro's post on twitter got brought up against him many moons in the future.

What sort of place is this ? I ask a genuine question and the vultures full of negativity sworm and when all else fails pulls up an old post ?
