ULEZ PCN - worth disputing?
Discussion
Took my car into Birmingham for a long weekend and completely forgot it was a ULEZ zone and I wasn't compliant.
Drove in on Friday, parked in hotel car park, drove home Sunday.
PCN arrived and paid (£60) without quibble for Friday, fair enough I should've seen the signs, another one has arrived today for the Sunday exit. Is it worth trying to argue that a single journey split over multiple days constitutes one offence and not pay PCN #2?

Worth a try if you want, but I can't see that being cancelled. It would be no different to you (or a city resident) driving your car all around the city on Friday, not doing anything on Saturday, then driving your car all around the city again on Sunday. You could have gone through one ANPR camera or 1,000, you were still transversing the zone.
The Birmingham clean air charge is a daily rate - as I found out myself!
I went to see Peter Kay last December. Arrived around 7pm on the Saturday, parked in a multistorey, paid the £8 fee and went to watch the concert. After the concert, got stuck in the car park for over an hour, before leaving for home (Manchester). Didn't think anything of it until I received a fine in the post for being in the zone at 00:02am (which will have been the time the camera caught me leaving the zone) and not having paid the £8 for Sunday
.
I have since sent a protest letter, from which I have not had any response for over 2 months - fingers crossed.

This morning was reading up about the planned London ULEZ expansion. The problem there will be the same as you have discovered. Visitors to Heathrow Airport who drive non-compliant cars will have to pay twice because the airport is considered "private land" so you will be "clocked" driving out and then back in to the ULEZ (each way being considered a separate journey).
Lots of "double bubble" for the Mayor's favourite charity!

I Had a very similar scenario a few months ago in London, 5 mins past midnight and it got cancelled.I went to see Peter Kay last December. Another great reason to stay away from Birmingham?
TX.
Or anywhere else with ULEZ if your vehicle doesn't comply!TX.
I can't believe my 2.5 litre, 16 year old gas guzzler is compliant - I understand it's all about noxious substance emissions, but at 20mpg this doesn't make sense.....

I can't belie 40 year old cars are exempt but 8 year old cars aren't!

How can you claim it’s the same journey when it’s over three days and you spent two nights night in a hotel? Drove in on Friday, parked in hotel car park, drove home Sunday.
