Westway is a three lane highway with no pedestrians or cyclists, Ruining people’s livelihoods for 35 in a 30 BS in my view has gone too far.

Caught 22 times - it isn't the limit at fault but the idiot behind the wheel.

Who is "ruining people's livelihoods"???

He's done it to himself.

He already had 7 points and then racked up dozens more - including 4 offences in one day, according to the article.

We might not agree with the posted limit but how stupid would you have to be to get caught that many times on the same stretch of road.

I agree there are some frustratingly low and inappropriate limits. However, to get caught 22 times is good going. Speed detection devises are pretty noticeable and he clearly drives the route constantly, so I’m inclined to say he’s only got himself to blame.

I regularly drive the A40 eleveated section & it's pretty obvious it's a 30 limit with signs saying "Average Speed Cameras". The vast majority of the traffic is crawling along at 30 on cruise so this chap can't have failed to notice he was overtaking everyone. Mind you, I often see people who brake for the camera & zoom between them. I often wonder if they missed the lessons on the meaning of average in maths rofl

It is true he did it to himself but also true there are many speed limits that are to low.

Coming home from Cumbria a couple of Saturdays ago at 2 am on the M6 there were roadworks with three lanes, no working yet 40mph speed limits.

Some speed limits are just traps

But obviously they are only trapping people who can't understand or abide by the rules be they right or wrong.

It’s a motorway - 50 was silly enough, 30 is a joke.

I agree with the poster regarding the limits during non-working hours.
We have had mile after mile of such limits on the A1 near Peterborough recently.
The central barrier work was actually taking place between 10pm and 5am, but the limits applied 24/7.
This was for the simple reason that it was too much work to change all the limit signs twice a day.
After a number of complaints they put up signs explaining the reasons.

So if he did it 22 times, presumably at least one of those times when he committed such a heinous crime someone was killed or injured? No?

Yes he's stupid for not realising what the limit is and presumably missing the speed cameras too, but that 30 limit is clearly too low. Also if the police had stopped him about it and warned/NIPed him, rather than a camera taking 22 pictures, he'd not be banned now.

Grumps.

You must be really fking stupid to be caught that many times, and in the same place.

I wonder if thats a record for the number of points someone has had on a licence at any one time?

Just had a look on Streetview where it's still showing 40mph there's no way should it be a 30mph zone, just another cashgrab by the council/tfl and nothing to do with safety.

M4 Port Talbot to J42 Swansea (and vice versa) is mind numbing at 50mph.

35mph was the lowest speed he was caught. He also already had 7 penalty points.

To get caught 22 times proves he isn't paying attention, or too daft to understand average speed. You have to be stupid to get caught on the same road as many times.

The letters for the earliest offences would have arrived before he continued to get caught . biglaugh

Maybe. Presumably the camera is easy to see? I don't know, I've never been there. But it seems like he got all 22 NIPs together, at work, which sounds wrong if the correct process was followed.

Me neither but he already had 7 points on his licence, and it has been a 30 limit since 2020 apparently.

When his ban is up will he still have all the points or clean licence?
