Did anybody spot the TWO talivan today between Hillingdon and Polish War Memorial.

I guess if you spo the first one, and speed up a little after it, they will catch you on the second.

To add insult to injury, there was a police car parked about 200 metres after each van, so I can only assume that no criminals other than speeding drivers were in the area.

Maybe one for each direction? More likely to get extra revenue that way

If I was cynical, I would say they are there because that's the section of road that has recently been reduced from a 70mph to a 50mph limit.

The Police car parked further on would tend to indicate ANPR, rather than speed, cameras, looking for tax (and therefore insurance and MOT) dodgers.

No I think that bit is still NSL - the 50 zone starts/finishes at the PWM.
Bit worrying as I have never seen a talivan on the A40/M40.
Hope it's not there next Friday night (cue a plug for the Ace meeting).

I drove in there tonight and didn't see anything, other than plod looking through someone's boot?! just after the 50 section had started (end of Northolt Airfield).

The 50 zone starts before the PWM (When your heading into town). However when you join the A40 at the PWM to head out of town there are no signs to say it is 50. Hence I just do 70ish.

It's quite some time since I drove along there, but IIRC there is street lighting along that stretch (I might be thinking of a different stretch of the road, of course). If so, and if there is no speed limit sign ... shouldn't one assume it's a 30 limit? - Streaky

This section is correctly signed. I've driven it a number of times and I'm anal about that sort of thing.
