Talk Talk - Sky Trouble
Discussion
Around the time Sky was putting up their price i rang Sky up and asked about my options and cancelation, I was told I have a cracking deal and had plenty of time to cancel. A few weeks later I rang Sky told them I wanted to cancel the sports package and was told I would have to pay a cancelation fee, basically one months notice plus two months.
Around the time Talk Talk rang and said I won't need to pay a cancelation fee as Sky was putting up prices and I said OK I will switch as long as I don't get charged a fee and they port my number and Nexflix, they said they will take care of that and I don't need to do anything.
Three weeks later engineer arrives, he spent a few minutes in the house, disappeared came back 20 minutes later said I was all done, asked him what he had done, oh I programmed your new phone number! I immediately rang Talk Talk help line, talked to some foreign lady whose English was not great, insisted it was my fault for not cancelling Sky services. Turns out Talk Talk haven't ported my number, or Netflix, or let Sky know and Sky wanted three months cancelation fee.
So I have no home internet, paying Sky and Talk Talk want paying too, they insist I have a contract with them as I did not cancel within 14 days, I insist they are in breach of contract. Question is what do I do now, court, Ofcom, or Talk Talk have some arbitration service

I had a similar issue with TalkTalk. Hours of phone calls with people who were unable/incapable of getting the matter sorted. It was almost laughable as the matter got progressively worse with TT input and more complicated. I managed to obtain the email address of the MD (from this site I think) and sent brief email detailing what had happened, similar to you posting. Received a phone call within 24 hours from a charming person who sorted the matter within minutes and gave me 18 months reduced charges for the trouble I had been through.

I wouldn't use Talk Talk if it was free. Simply the worst company I've ever had to deal with.
I agree, a couple of years ago I switched to talk talk. Except I didn’t because they were so utterly hopeless I cancelled before they even got round to activating their broadband. TwigtheWonderkid said:
Any kind of interaction with TalkTalk will leave you begging Sky to take you back at twice what you were paying before. They are beyond hopeless.
Fortunately, I never went with Talk Talk myself, but my wife's aunt did, which left us having to sort the resultant utter disaster. I could write a book on the whole sorry experience, but I won't bore you. But I honestly think the stress contributed to her premature death. As I say, I won't bore you, suffice to say when my wife's aunt died, the lady at Talk Talk insisted unless my wife's aunt gave the instructions personally, they couldn't cancel the contract. The only good thing about the whole 2 year saga was that it makes dealing with Sky feel like flying Emirates first class.
TalkTalk forums are best way to deal with them.
Post a topic, someone picks it up and passes it to the right people
I tried calling their helplines, 5 months later still not sorted and it was 60-90 minutes everytime I contacted them
Forums got it sorted within 6 days, fault sorted on line, excess charges refunded and discount on remaining package as an apology.
