Not sure the source, but a teenager was killed by a train. Kid was playing chicken, and didn't make it off the tracks (how sad - not!). Makes me wonder, why there aren't Gatso's on railway lines, as we all know.. speed kills?

What I'm getting to is, we need to keep pedestrians off the road/rail, and then it's fine to hoof along at a decent pace. Why is it ok for the gov sponsered railway to "speed", and yet the thing that funds the railway (eg car drivers) is limited & punished?

I'm getting quite fed up with all the s*** we are getting these days but don't know what to do!

Frankly I am amazed that any train went fast enough to be able to kill someone.

i just spent a supposed 1:40ish journey from euston to crewe onboard a supposed 125mph tilting train at nomore than 50mph. they dont need to bother with speed cameras, their inbuilt speed enforcement is the idiots who run the railways

It's like gettng run down by a Milk Float, I have known people who have had this happen to them. In this particular circumstance they were positioned such as to receive only minor injuries.

Given that it's slow an painful, I'd have thought that being run over by a milk float is a pretty bad way to go.

I suppose being squished by a slow train must be similar. I guess the trick is to make sure that one's head is securely fastened to the rails facing the expected direction of the train.

I'd have thought that a last minute change of mind is real bad news. Just imagine that, getting sliced in half, but not instantly sqidged.

Ah, if only he were alive today, The Rt. Hon. William Huskisson, MP, could give the lie to that! But, of course, if he were, he couldn't ... if you see what I mean! - Streaky

The underground is the same. Guys with radar guns noting down the numbers on the trains and then giving them a gold star later.
