Is the 6 months to charge that the police have 6 x 28 days or 6 calendar months?

Thanks

My summons turned up 1 day shy of 6 months.

Not sure if there is any real limit. Could be the date of the summons, them posting the summons...

I'm sure someone here will know.

What was that for?

I got pulled n tested for no reason. Was shocked when I failed. I’d not smoked that day and it’s was 12.00am.

Wasn’t worried until I seen how low the permitted level was. 60,000 times lower than alcohol.

They didn’t even search me or my car, took me to 3 police stations looking for a nurse (4 hours), took blood, then give me a lift home.

Not what I wanted to hear.

I thought it was up today (6 x 28 days) but I’ve got another 2 weeks.

You weren't pulled for no reason if you failed the test.

I think cannabis has muddled with your brain, if you think the permitted level is 60,000 times lower than the alcohol limit. They are not even being measured in the same way.

The case must be "layed before the court" within 6 calendar months. You might not hear anything for a week or two later.

If the time limit is 6 months then that means 6 calendar months. The day of the offence is not taken into account when computing the time limit.

If charged then you should receive a Postal Requisition or Notice of Charge.

ETA: The prosecutor must issue the charge within 6 months. Receipt of the Requisition can be outside of the aforementioned period.

Now we have the answer, I'm just curious where 6 months might actually mean 6x4week periods?

The THC must make him think in lunar months, he'll be expecting to get his licence back after 48 weeks.

Given how few traffic officers are about these days and how busy they are, you have to spectacularly unlucky to get a "random" pull for no reason.

Other scenarios include:

  • Someone tipped off the police that you had been drug-driving
  • There was a marker on your car from other reports of your driving, etc
  • The manner of your driving
Or we go with your theory?

A warning to other drug users that cannabis can seemingly be detectable for days after consumption. Minimum 12 month driving ban too I believe. Not to mention the subsequent insurance premium increases when you get your licence back.

Surely not worth the risk, and yet I am amazed at how many people think it's OK to smoke illegal drugs whilst driving, never mind just the night before.
Is, er, future insurance cost going to be an issue here, if you know what I mean?

Not just insurance. This offence is listed on your licence for 11 years.

A minimum 12-month driving ban / fine / prison (unlikely but possible) and you may not be able to travel to other countries like USA (at least you won't get an ESTA but applying for a visa instead).

Or taking them even.

Must be a big hole in your life if you need drugs imo.
