just witnessed a car hit a parked car in a car park , got out and had a look at his own then went to drive off , another woman filmed it , i took pics and then there happened to be a PSCO wander past , we colllared him and explained matey hit the car and drive off until we stopped him , yeah mate -holds hands out - nothing i can do if no one hurt

poor show , i thought it was a crime to leave the scene of an accident without proving details?

Depends on damage to other car. Should leave insurance or personal details if its scratched at all.

I would leave your contact details if there is damage and you have evidence

Nothing will happen

It should, PCSO's appear pointless, state of the country etc.

Some poor bd now has a messed up car!

If you've the reg number and any evidence (or are prepared to give a statement), I guess leave a note.

Otherwise, no, nothing will happen!

I would put money on it "not being a police matter" due to little or no damage, no injuries and no disruption to traffic etc.

Its awful, but I can see why the police can't deal with every ding that happens, even if there is evidence. The best you can do is leave your details with the owner of the car, pass on the evidence and he gets the insurance company to do their thing, although I bet that isn't worth it either given the excess on many policies these days...

Same thing happened to my partner just a couple of weeks ago, crushed the front corner of her Juke in, clearly would have realised and just fecked off. I hate it when scum bags do this, but not even worth us talking to the insurance about it, even if the penis was caught on camera...

Similar story for me just over a year ago. However the miscreant was caught on camera, so I talked to her insurance company and informed them of her adventures on her behalf. They paid the bodyshop directly. biggrin

Just leave your details as a witness. Then they can take it up with their insurance to knobbly the other driver.

The excess should be recoverable if the other driver's insurance ultimately foot the bill.

Witnessed a similar incident a few years back in our local Tescos. Left a note for the driver of The damaged car and were lucky enough to see her return. Explained what had happened - she reported the matter to Police. I was contacted for a statement- the bloke finished up in court for failing to stop. May have helped that the owner of the damaged car worked for the CPS.

They don't make it easy to report - I saw a taxi driver in a MG5 EV drive into a space at Gatwick airport...

except there was a big bang as he had just driven into a parked Discovery in the next space.

He knew he had done it as he got out and looked, then drove away to another space.

Small scratch on the disco and paint transfer on the tyre, gave up trying to report it to the car park so they could tell the driver if he asked as I just went round in circles.

No point wasting an hour trying to get through on 101, even if they would care.

With everything being electronic now, you don't usually carry pens and paper anymore to leave a note.

I saw similar in a car park several years ago. Reported to Police. Police came to interview me as a witnessed for which I recd a citation but in the end did not have to appear in court thankfully as the driver admitted guilt and was prosecuted.

This was in S Ayrshire

Thanks, I was only looking at the Gatwick Airport websites, I hadn't considered a police one.

Went round in circles between the airport's main site and the parking site without success.

I was the victim of a hit and run a few years ago, bike trashed, minor injury, witness on my side, police not interested.
