This is the one that is on the downhill stretch on a left hand bend as you enter the village. It’s pretty savage as the speed limit is 60 as you approach the bend. Coming round the bend you see a sign for speed cameras along with a 30 sign, and then pretty much immediately after that is the speed cam staring at you. I was doing around 50 on the approach, took emergency action as soon as I could but may still have been doing 35-ish when I saw it.

Has anyone been caught out by it? If yes, what were the circumstances?

According to this the speed limit on the way in is 50 but I’m pretty sure it’s actually 60 (it’s 60 in the opposite direction).

Just a point of note, just because the limit is 60 going out doesn't mean it is 60 going in.

I know of at least a few off the top of my head where limits are lower going into a restricted area than coming out.

A63 going into Hull from M62 50 mph from Dairycoates junction, NSL from junction before when going back out.

I've never seen this except on a dual carriageway, can you provide a Streetview link if you've got a non-DC example ?

It does look a bit tight on Streetview, but I'm not sure you've got the visibility to be doing 60 on the first part of the hill that has an LH bend, and then there's a decent straight before the 30 sign. If you didn't see the 30 sign, or ignored it, then probably that's what the camera's there for...

Haha yes I've come across this one a few times, absolutely tossy place, down a steep hill going from 60 to 30. Can't help you really other than what a nasty place it's in.

You may have a point there, although not sure why it would make a difference, the ones I see are all on D/Cs as above.

It's Northamptonshire. None of the fixed cameras are operational.

Thanks for the info - that was lucky! But as mentioned in the speedcamerasuk link and by P675 previously, it’s in a really awkward location which requires extreme braking in a very short distance. I would imagine it captured lots of people when it was live.

Or alternatively better observation & keeping to the speed limits.
