Watching the videos of the JSO had me thinking if I was driving the car with a child/wife/relative/friend that needed to get to hospital, life or death situation and the road is blocked by slow walking protestors I am the first car at the front. It would be a very tricky situation and I would want to drive through them (slowly) to avoid as much injury as possible to save the life of a loved one. What would happen as a result?

I expect you'd get prosecuted, at least for dangerous driving.

You'd get Christmas cards etc. in the future from me though. And if you did it a bit quicker, maybe a Christmas present too.

If you had a tear gas dispenser on the front of the car it'd help as they be running away from your car... #imjustasaying

The Just Stop Oil protesters are being kettled by others in orange T shirts bearing a ‘Just Stop Pissing People off’ logos.

This is a version of the trolley car problem. A philosophical discussion on taking action which would certainly kill 1 man to save the life of 5 others.

It's been debated to death over the years. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer.

What would happen if you drove through a group of old ladies or kids?

I expect the outcome for you would be same, wouldn't it?

Disqualified from driving for a year, handed a community order and ordered to pay a total of £240?

Similar to https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/mum-who-nudg...

Although that was 'just a nudge' and Insulate Britain protesters so 'drove through' and Oil Protestors may give a different outcome?

Life and death situations allow for dangerous and drink driving offences. Along with many other offences.

Would you be permitted to speed etc in a similar situation? Doubt it, though I could be wrong.

Use them as rugby tackle practice for local teams and clear the roads of the idiots.
It feels like the table is turning. The acceptance of them doing what they do seems to be reducing daily.

Jeez, I really can't believe the attitude to JSO protesters on this site and elsewhere. They are trying to make people aware that big oil is destroying our planet with impunity and getting very rich while they are at it by profiteering and overcharging us all. A few people try to make the rest of us aware of this in admittedly occasionally rather lame ways, but I fail to see how chucking a bit of orange dye about makes them fair game to be run over or beaten up/injured by some bolshy Karens (Karens can be both male and female, it seems!).

All these, "what if I had my pregnant/dying/injured wife/cat/child/grandmother/sausage roll and Just Stop Oil were blocking the road to the nearest hospital/vet/Greggs" threads are ridiculous!

If so why don't they just stand by the side of the road waving their placards and shouting or singing stuff. No they need to disrupt everyone else going about their lives. Stopping sporting events blocking road and destroying property is going to get people upset and then they are not going to take any notice of the protesters. Selfish wkers is what they are, end of.

If you can come up with a way to support a global population of 8 billion without using oil, that doesn't require a transition over many decades, I'm sure we'd be all ears.

It's a fantastic example of joined up thinking to actively create congestion and pollution to protest about the congestion and pollution that oil causes.

One of the most poorly thought out , blinkered responses ever to grace the forum.
