There's a new 50 mph limit near me, with a camera that I don't recgonize on a 20' gantry

Does anyone know what make/model this camera is, and given that there is only one, whether it is measuring/recording in both directions?

As far as I'm aware they need to be yellow to be speed cameras

The sign basically means the van may appear at any time

It's an ANPR camera.

Those are just guidelines - it even says "If you’re caught by a camera that doesn’t meet these conditions, you can’t use it as a defence for speeding".

Because the authorities are obsessed with speed control.

It is very similar to the ANPR camera's used in places such supermarket car park to record the entry and exit times of vehicles.

No no no.

They are obsessed with revenue generation nothing else.
It's a continuous war on motorists

Yes yes yes.

Compliance with regulations is paramount to the authorities. They do not want disobedient citizens.

Fines are a way of imposing that control. Strict obedience would mean no revenue.

Continuous war on motorists? Yes all part of authority's strategy. They see the car as evil.

Anything I put in bold italics is cryptic...

In the county in which I live the P&CC has recently changed. The previous one used part of his budget on various road safety schemes including extra young driver training. His replacement cancelled many of the schemes & spends the money on 'community projects'. These are mostly being fixed speed cameras & handheld speed measuring devices for residents to check the speeds of vehicles in their area.

Fortunately Fire & Rescue now sponsor the cost of additional training for young drivers.

That’s not a Gatling, that’s an Avenger.
