Who has had the biggest speeding fine on PH?
Discussion
Prompted by the “Norway” thread running over in the holidays section, where a couple of PHers have reported £1k fines for 10km over the 70 speed limit and 10k kr
I’m wondering who has been stung for the most for a relatively trivial infraction - considering the above offences wouldn’t even have got you a NIP in the UK.
I guess it’s going to be either Switzerland or a Scandinavian country.
Do your worst….

In 2010, a Swedish motorist was caught driving at 290 km/h (180 mph) and was fined 1 million Swiss francs, equivalent to about £780,000 at that time.

for speeding, £995 at current exchange rates. 40-60kph over the posted limit [they don't tell you the exact figure, just the banding equates to the fine] plus additional costs to avoid 30day impound.
biggest fine for a single traffic offence, £1560. this one included a fee to avoid a 60day impound...
latter one was about 7 yrs ago when impound meant leaving your car unattended out in the sticks. the former just last month. they now do it with a tracker and OBD dongle, but this meant i couldn't register the new car i'd bought nor re-register my bike until the impound was served, so had to pay up.

Fines are income based so all relative (in the UK at least).
A court imposed fine is usually (but not always) commensurate with income. A fixed penalty isn’t. Mine is "only" £300 (+£85 and 6 points) for 105-110 in a 70, mainly because I realised they ask for a net income and I made a massive pension contribution the month before so could declare naff all and be fined accordingly.
I also saw that they didn't really make you complete a form and that there was no obligation to do so - tempting right now as you'd likely just get the average

I may have the most “powerfully built” answer to this. At my one and only court appearance the clerk looked at my correctly completed income/expenditure declaration and advised the magistrate that the amounts disclosed were obviously annual not monthly. In my shamed and penitent state I found myself unable to speak up to correct his misunderstanding. So I was fined a fraction of what was likely intended. I did get a 7-day ban though.
