Thank you - I thought it was just one!

You must be with the Hampshire Police?

The Photographic society was doing its thing just by the speed limit change on the A27 at Portchester today. Mk1 eyeball was too fast and i've learned the location has speedtrap written all over it. I've also seen a big black 4x4 unmarked. Looks really scary.

really? Where exactly?

Looks like the cameraships are their 'constant revenue stream' trick again:
"stick to the speed limit and we won't fine you, but don't worry about the fact that we keep reducing these limits...."

The "Police patrol vehicles only" layby just after the castle trading estate traffic lights just before the roundabout by Portchester station. The road in that direction has just changed from a single lane 40 limit to a dual lane 30 with railings and underpasses for pedestrians. They were in a small white van firing out the back driver's side door. There was a low sun and they were not easy to see.

I've also seen a motorcycle with a box brownie on a tripod sitting on the hard standing between lanes in the other direction, just after the castle trading estate firing at people coming off the r/bout. Bare in mind this is just before a 30 to 40 change. I can provide pictures if you wish of both places.

Just so I'm quite clear on this:

A single lane road previously had a 40 limit.

Re-engineering made it dual lane (I presume you mean two in each direction, but not dual-carriageway), added safety railings to protect pedestrians, and created an underpass so that pedestrians could cross more safely

...

and then the PTB slapped a 30 limit on it!

Guess what action will be credited with a reduction is KSIs!

Cheers Sadako.
No need for the pics, I know where you describe.

My travels in that area only take me as far as Novatech (I love that store ). I’m usually fairly legal west of where both carriages merge into single lanes, so I hope it won’t affect me.

Was the road recently changed as per Streaky’s understanding?

Yeah, right by where the lanes merge is a black box chained to a lamp post that is kicking out immense ammounts of K-band, i think its just a traffic survey device though.

Living around the corner from Novatech is the best ever! Shame i'm moving house to Lee-on-Solent in a week or so...
