Two birds with one thread LOL

Mrs UTH has been snapped at 24 in a 20 on way to work. Car in my name so I've done the online process of putting her details in. Will she now get a letter similar to mine? Or an email? It didn't tell me what to do after I submitted it so I assume one of those things will happen?

Secondly, I was on the way home yesterday on the A3, cruise control set to 75, so doing an indicated 74/74 according to Waze......saw that a camera van was way up ahead so dropped cruise down to 70, but there's a chance the van may have seen me while it was still set to 75. Will I be ok at 74/75 or am I pushing my luck?

For your second question. Enforcement starts at 10%+2 so you’re fine up to 78mph.

Ok thank you, I did seem to remember people on here saying cruising at 75mph was fine, but of course the sight of the van ahead did have me questioning it. smile

God on earth only knows who came up with such a ridiculous equation.

Those in power are constantly ranting on about the speed of vehicles and the danger caused by speed, so they come up with an equation that allows for greater infingement of the speed limit the higher it is.

I think you’ll find it’s down to the inaccuracy of speedometers.

Speedometers are known to be in accurate so establishing that rule removes any element of doubt so they can concentrate on just those who might cause danger by speeding. Seems perfectly sensible to me.

Great thanks, didn't want to find myself in court as I'd not done the right thing!

Three points for 24mph. Oh the humanity!

I’d be absolutely bloody livid.

Cue some bore going on about children or some such.

I think you’ll find the overall percentage of leeway reduces as the speed limit increases

Must admit I find it hard to believe that there is robust enforcement of these 20 limits

Yep, can't say Mrs UTH is happy, and I'm not really happy for her, but the camera is pretty obvious I imagine and it's a route she does 5 days a week, so pretty avoidable to get done! Still, she should be able to do the course.

I have to be careful because my car won't allow me to 'Resume' cruise from below 20 mph. Thus to use cruise control, arguably not the safest way of driving anyway, I have to exceed 20 mph then let the car slow down at which point the cruise control re-engages. Obviously not ideal. It doesn't have a speed limiter function.

10% + 3 above 60mph (don't want anyone being deprived of another 1mph of progress).
For some reason our T-Cross only allows 5mph increments, so it's either 70, 75 or 80 for me! 75 it is.

Yep. 79 (real) is 3 pts, I know as I got an NIP on the M62. 78 and I’d have been fine.

In almost every county in England, the enforcement threshold is 10% + 2 mph.

There is a way of single increments, but our T-Cross belongs to the Mrs so I can't remember how!

Thanks. Apparently the NPCC guidelines changed a few years ago to +2 generally. I need to slow down.
