There is an old Clio parked in the car park for my flat, and it has been sitting there for about 4 weeks now. It has 3 flat tyres and mould growing on it. 2 nights ago someone smashed the rear window. It also has no tax. How would I go about getting it removed as it is an eyesore? I have a feeling the car park is private (i.e. not adopted council road) so would it have to be dragged out onto the street in order to get it shifted?! any advice welcome.

If said car were to suddenly be found in the middle of the road, causing an obstruction, you'd find the Police would have it removed in no time at all.

I know a certain beat officer who used to do just that with the big meat wagon with the uninsured/taxed/registered cars used by scrotes on his beat. Having towed them in to the middle of the road, would then drive round the block and "discover" the obstruction. That Officer may or may not have been me.

I might not have done that as well.

I think it's called common sense policing.

Too right. Mind you, the council will remove it if it's on the road (not private land) and not causing an obstruction if the tax is out. Well they do around here anyway.

That's right tahiti, but council removal is generally 7 days, obstruction within 30mins in our area. Then, no registered keeper, no tax, bit of a shed, it goes straight off to the crusher. A nice result all round.

in general, the council will leave it for a week or two before they remove it. that way all the chav vandals can have a go at it and burn it out

They tend to remove it even quicker if its obstructing a footpath as it means the pedestrians have to walk into the 'Dangerous' road. ;-)

Had exactly the same in the private car park for my flats a few weeks ago, although the car was untaxed we suspected it had been left in our car park until the end of the month so as to tax it for full months.

Mysteriously someone let themselves into the car, went and parked it on the yellow lines outside the flats and left it unlocked.

The next day it was gone, I don't know if the owner had come and removed it or someone had got themselves a fairly tidy volvo 440 for Yorkshire's Best Price.

we have exactly the same problem here with an un taxed car in our back entry (unnadopted), the difference is it has prevented me from geeting out (to work, I ride a motor bike and keep it in the back garden) for the last 4 weeks and as a result i have now been dismissed from my job!,I noticed today its finally been moved after I reported it to the Council!

no help to me though as I am now unemployed because of it!

Lovely!!

I wonder though, can such common sense hypothetically take place now that so many scrotes 'own' camcorders and might film their chav chariots being hauled into the middle of the road before being discovered?

I really, really hope so - but if I were a BiB, I'd be very concerned that with my luck, the first time I tried it, I'd end up plastered across the local rag by the local chav supporting solicitor...
