Someone just asked me if it's possible to have their cars MOT history (Not status) and mileage anonymous like my classic that shows MOT as green and "no results found" online.

Told him I'd ask but don't think it's possible to opt out of gov.uk is it?

I wouldn’t think so. It’s not sensitive data as far as GDPR is concerned IMO. I don’t see why the DVLA would indulge anyone in such a request.

It says 'no results found' on the VED and MoT status enquiry because it's presumably in the Historical category. Otherwise it would have the expiry date.

If you put the registration into the MoT enquiry page, all the digital ones going back to 2006 ish can still be seen:

That's good to know, Thanks.

P.S Think guy that asked me thought I had opted out and wanted to hide high mileage and past advisories from neighbors (on his new used car).

Blimey, do neighbours really look up the MOT history of each other's cars? That has to be worth 100 Sad points.

Indeed, just don't know what's worse, them checking how high mileage is and history of advisories or him not wanting them to know.

Well if he wants to impress the Joneses he just needs to buy a low mileage car with no advisories.

There's an episode of 'The Good Life' there... hehe

I must admit I've done it in the past when one of the neighbours turns up in a de-badged something or other, and I can't work out what it is. It's not sad, it's being a petrolhead surely?

Or a nosey bugger.

'Jerry? Jerry! Come here at once!'
'What is it dear?'
'This is absolutely terrible'.
'What dear?'
'I've just found out that the Morrison's Rover has fewer MOT advisories than ours'
'What?'
'You need to do something about this Jerry. Now Jerry!'
'Yes dear'.

Anyway, in other news my neighbour's son has just fitted his Skoda with a thing in the exhaust... it now makes a surprised 'Whoop!' noise every time he changes gear. Joy.

Squirt some ATF/Brake fluid in, will smoke horribly when heats up! Good old joke friends did to me once, thought engine was gone.
