I have now received 4x penalty notices in the last week with pictures of me driving my S/C 2018 petrol Range Rover. I am asked for “proof” that it is compliant! Getting the hump that burden rests with me even though the notice identifies my car’s make, model and year…. Sent copy of V5C and dvla MoT compliance page.

Anyone having same issue with TFL?

Maybe you have a date related private plate that has added confusion.

Imagine the chaos when they bring in full on road charging.

OP So your car does not show as compliant on the website when you check? https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicl...

Try and find the reg of a similar car and see if that shows as compliant, will help tell you if it's a problem with just your car.

As you say, they should be doing the leg work , but they are a shower, so in the long run it might be easier if you do it.

Not being argumentative, just asking in my ignorance.

Should they be?

Surely the burden of proof is with the owner if there is doubt.

I had the same with my petrol Cayenne S. They fixed it when I sent the evidence that it was compliant as you have, but I agree - onus shouldn't be on us to prove, they should have up to date databases. Guilty until proven innocent?

Surely the burden should be on the people trying to liberate money from your pocket? eg prove you owe them, rather than you proving you don't.....

To some extent I agree, but the op states he has already sent the relevant docs and they are still charging him.

Agreed, that should be enough, but we don't know if that was done in a timely manner or not, hopefully it can be sorted.

Ulez checker says car is compliant and still getting penalties. I have pointed this out to tfl and shown it the documentation. Decided to ignore everything else it sends. 🙏

Does the TFL Ulez checker show its compliant ?
(the gov.uk one seems to cover every city except London)

My wife’s car (personal plate) was compliant on gov.uk one, but not on TFL

Had to send them photos of all sides of the car & interior, plus v5

Then takes up to 10 days to update their system. Up to 10 days meant 10 days of course..

Sorted in the end

These things are not intended to function in any way apart from raising money.

The Oxford ZEZ: according to all the council's info makes no charges for vehicles registered as historic. Go to the website, type in a registration number (your own classic car, one of Inspector Morse's Jaguars, Bertie Wooster's Astom Martin International ...) and it tells you to pay £12. Perhaps the car has to registered with the ZEZ system? No, there's no place to do it.

ULEZ, ZEZ, .... , 90% of speed cameras .... don't achieve any of the objectives the politicians claim for them. Their only purpose is to raise cash

In those instances, I write saying this is the first and last letter I will send. Other correspondence will incur an admin fee of £xx if you wish to pursue the claim.
