Hi all

Currently on 6 points.

Got flashed at around 58-60 in a 50mph section of dual carriage way in Coventry - moment of lack of concentration. Expecting a NIP and 3pts. Happened last Sat night

Did speed awareness course 2 years ago

Imagine my horror when a hire car company I used 2 weeks ago wrote to me to say I've been caught speeding! st 12 POINTS!

I haven't seen the NIP yet but they have sent my details to police. Apparently 79 (limit 70)on M6 junction 3a near the toll

My only hope is that I may be offered motorway awareness course. However I've read that that tends to be given to those speeding in variable speed limit areas?

Anyone had any experience of this? A MAC is apparently different to speed awareness course and you can do both

Anyone had the motorway one for over 70?

Already in touch with a lawyer before you ask.......

Thanks all

You would think that somebody who has 6 points already would be a little more careful.

I know when I got my first 3 points after 13 years, it woke me up a little to them moments where I could of been done and lost my licence.

Thanks pal - very helpful!

I stated in the thread title that I've been an idiot

The question posed was around motorway awareness schemes?

Thanks anyway

Waze app is perfect as a digital speedometer, especially near cameras. Enough said.

Wow, you are a total danger on the roads - Not.

You seem to have managed to get right on thresholds for tickets, it really is quite a feat, seems you have a history of not seriously speeding, just a bit fast, I should hope it goes right in your favour.

Agtlaw and the likes should come along shortly, from what I've read on here I would expect you able to have a motorway course, someone even claims to not tell them he HAD SACs within time limit due to wording being, "so far as you recall" or similar and did multiple SACs for different safety camera scheme areas within the SCA time limits.

Damn unlucky there as 79 is the point they start to send a ticket. I always set up CC to maintain 78 on a m/way just to avoid that.

You are on the forum packed full of the sanctimonious and posting about speeding attracts them like flies, all wringing their hand and wiggling a finger. Doesn't matter if you say you've "been an idiot" ( you have not). Same result.

I'd not even bother asking for ticket advice on here any more. Would just make me cross.

You've not been an idiot, just probably not paying attention. It could be a lot worse when not paying attention.

My advice, it's not worth losing sleep over. You've got yourself legal representation so you can only hope for a lenient outcome.

Good luck.

They don’t differentiate between variable limits and a 70 limit so if you are eligible for the MW course you should be offered it

The eligibility for a MAC can vary and is often at the discretion of the local police force.

It is not guaranteed that you will be offered a MAC, especially as these courses are often aimed at lower levels of speeding and, as you mentioned, in variable speed limit areas.

The MACs are specifically geared towards variable speed limits on motorways.

It's it a variable zone where you got done?

No. You are on the forum packed full of the incredulous and disbelieving at how some people never take heed of recent life experiences. Anyone can get a SAC or 3 points for a genuine mistake, a bit of inattention etc. If you're very unlucky then over time you can get 6 points for the same. However most people having accumulated 6 points from two such instances would respond by being rather more careful about drifting over the prosecution threshold. Not our OP though. They manage to do it twice more in the space of a few days. That suggests a driver who doesn't really pay attention properly to what's going on. Wherever a contributor here sits on the sanctimony scale, I doubt they appreciate a driver who doesn't seem to have any situational awareness.

I'm far from a fan of many of today's speed limits but they are what they are and you've got to get on with it. I'm even less of a fan of the many drivers who drive around with their heads up their backsides and get taken by surprise by any and everything. The OP confesses to being an idiot. Yes, I think that's one bit of situation awareness they've got spot on.

You've just reinforced the position of the guy you've quoted and tried to contradict. Congratulations.

Good luck op.

Good luck with that.

Talk about sailing close to the wind.

Why not set it to 73 and get there a few minutes later?
