Was driving responsibly along the A120 overtaking at 70mph, heading towards Stansted.

Small white Vauxhall either Corsa or Astra zooms up behind, speeding 85mph. Turns his blue grill lights on for half a second to get me out of the way. Then proceeds to do the same with other traffic in front, each time just flashing his blue lights briefly to get traffic to move.

Thought I got the registration but must have a got a digit or two wrong, thought it was:

UA68 ULH

or

EA68 ULH

but no result on MOT checker. Any ideas on the correct registration? Cheers

(I've successfully reported the police for poor driving a few times).

Why are you so bothered by it?

Sometimes progress needs to be made without making a big song and dance about it.

You won’t find police cars on the mot checker. They get tested internally and nit through the normal MOT system until sold

Eh? I reported one in a similar location a few years ago who was "making progress" aggressively, turns out (disciplinary) it was because he was late for a meeting.

It's just not on.

Weird thing to get worked up about.

You've got absolutely no idea what they were doing or why they were doing it.

I don't think Ux is a valid area code, so it's unlikely to be that.

What was so bad about their driving?

So an emergency vehicle comes up behind you, alerts you of their presence so you allow then to make progress, yes?

And you want o report them....

For what , exactly?

If it's an emergency put your lights on. If you're late for a meeting (as above) then queue with everyone else and next time set off earlier.

So you report every unmarked vehicle you see on blues in case they aren't going to an emergency?

Seriously, get a better hobby.

Please say where it says to use the exemptions you must have your lights/sirens on. Strange how it never came up in any of my courses...

They don't have to use blues to make progress, move you out of the way, exceed the speed limit etc.

There are many reasons why the police don't always want to show out, good luck with your quest though.

So you cant tell us if it was a Corsa or an Astra and you cant tell us the registration number but you can tell us it was doing exactly 85 mph ?

How do you know it was a Police Car - other agencies also have unmarked vehicles with blue lights

My force never put blue lights on unmarked Corsas / Astras !

Even Walter Mitty types have put blue lights on their private cars.

IF it was a Poilce car its likely to have a date recorder fitted which may well have recorded the speed

He could have been on his way to a job but didn’t want to cause a commotion. Cars pulling over suddenly can cause tailbacks.

Either way you’ll never find out so move on

Eh indeed.... it wasn't a difficult question but maybe I need to simplify it for you.

What's the problem with this occasion, why are you so bothered by it that you need to ask on the internet if anyone knows the reg?

Chances of anyone knowing, I'd suggest zero.

If it was unmarked, how does the OP know it was a police vehicle?

I'm sure people haven't read my posts properly.

I reported a police driver in very similar circumstances about ten years ago and they were subsequently disciplined. I'm just trying to uphold standards and protect everyone's safety.

Must admit it does irk me when you watch those Roads Policing TV shows and they drive very forcefully for reasons that don't seem appropriate.

One local to me drove halfway across Cheshire mainly on single carriageway A roads, so not idea for high speed driving, to a sighting of a reported stolen vehice. Not a life or death situation and turned out it was owner driving it after they'd picked it up from the compound.
